Acknowledgement of Country
The Nova Muse Festival acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR'S WELCOME
Dear friends,
Celebrating new inspiration and opportunities for shared creativity, the Nova Muse Festival returns to Penguin Tasmania in 2024 with the generous support of the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts. Entering its fourth consecutive year, the festival welcomes music lovers and string players to share inspiration in a nurturing atmosphere special to Penguin. The vibrant string-playing community of Tasmania’s North West welcomes a broad music-loving community to share in this special event, and the remote coastal town, idyllic surrounds, and generous community is the perfect setting. The festival’s evening concerts feature internationally celebrated string players, who are passionate about sharing their expertise, and mentoring festival participants throughout the day. A daily lunchtime concert, open to the public, celebrates the extraordinary achievements of the festival scholars. The Nova Muse Festival's mission is to bring a widespread music-loving community together, to create and celebrate great music at all stages of development. Begin at any age. Rise to any stage!

"Nova Muse Festival provides a remarkable opportunity for aspiring musicians and a wide audience to experience such a high standard in music making. As Patron, I look forward to hosting a residency to aspiring festival participants to workshop new repertoire at Hans Vonk Music House. I feel fortunate to be able to contribute to the project, and to support and nurture this growing music community."
